Ambit is a New Zealand start-up that has a Conversational-AI Platform enabling clients to create enterprise-grade AI Chatbots. Currently, I am the lead designer based in Auckland. My role is full-stack customer experience design from service design and consulting to user interface design along with marketing collateral. It’s a lean, all hands on deck and fast-paced environment.

Design thinking + Design sprint

Using design thinking we reduce the risk of future mistakes and generate vision-led goals for teams to measure success. By working together in a design sprint, we shortcut endless debates and compress months of time into 2 days, and put a prototype in our clients hands.

I worked with Josh, the CEO, to develop the client workshops with a goal of helping customers understand Chatbots, NLP and the conversational-AI design challenge. We also designed the experience to ensure we capture requirements for build. 

Design thinking + design sprint = fast Chatbot design

Because conversational design is so new and has a lot of design constraints - it’s not a cookie-cutter design-thinking approach. Testing out and adapting various design activities led to a design sprint that resulted in 90% conversion rate to production chatbots.

After each workshop I create posters summarising the design decisions and documenting the process enabling clients to share knowledge with their colleagues. Simultaneously the product specialist is able to begin creating the Chatbot prototype based on the workshop outputs in Ambit’s Platform. It’s a fast, collaborative and fun process! Clients take longer to decide on their chatbot’s name that it does for us to design, document and build the Chatbot!

User Interface Design

The interaction design of Ambit’s platform is also a collaborative process - with the developers and product specialists. I work closely to understand how the NLP works, client requirements and user feedback all come together to inform the platform UX. 

To speed up the process, I set the team up with a design library from the get-go and also created future-vision UI mock ups - so we had an idea of where we want to end up. 

The team works in agile to deliver our platform roadmap.
